"Barkhos" are people who sit in the coffee house in front of the customs office. When a merchant's smuggling is caught, they step in, take the blame, and go to jail or get flogged in exchange for money. The arrival of a dog from Germany at customs disrupts this arrangement, making it impossible for merchants to smuggle their goods. Desperate, the merchants seek someone to get rid of the dog.

Major ( Hamid Farrokhnejad) is a Barkho. Faced with a dire situation, he is forced to betray his impoverished friends and destroy the dog for the merchants' benefit. The money he earns from this act promises to solve all his problems, though this is only the surface of the story.
